Large Amazonite Heart

Reported as early as 1847, Amazonite derives its name from the Amazon River, where this mineral was found in abundance. It is believed to have been used as far back as 4000 years, byu many ancient civilizations, including India, Mesopotamia and Egypt.
It has been noted to have been used throughout history as part of armor, amulets, jewellery, talismans, and writing slabs.
 
Crystalline structure:
Amazonite is an alkali feldspar mineral (microline). The crystals form in small prismatic crystals, or large masses. The colours can range from a pale blue-green, to a deep turquoise/blue. The colour can come from traces of lead and water within the feldspar. 
The mineral has recently been found in combination with Quartz and Smoky Quartz inclusions.
