Velvet Malachite

First reported in 1747, Malachite is known for its rich green colour and swirling patterns. It is believed to have been used in ancient Egypt as early as 3000 B.C. In the middle ages, it was used for protection.
 
Crystalline Structure:
A copper carbonate mineral, Malachite forms in unusual swirling patterns. This piece is very rare as it is in its crystallized form. Malachite is often found in combination with Azurite and Chrysocolla.
Malachite rates at 4 - 5 on the Mohs scale.
