Green Quartz

Also called Prasiolite, Green Quartz is commonly referred to as Green Amethyst, which it is not. It is thought to have been discovered in 1884.
 
Crystalline structure:
Green Quartz is a macrocrystalline variety of Quartz. It is a silicon dioxide mineral, that is very rare. A treated variation can be found by heat-treating Amethyst which can result in a green colouration, or through adding Chromium during a man-made process. This piece is a natural piece.
Green Quartz rates at a 7 hardness on the Mohs Scale.
