Working with the 12:12 Portal

A womans face surrounded by energy with the words working with the 12:12 portal over the top

The 12:12 Portal will occur on the 12th day of the 12th month, providing you with an opportunity for transformation, healing, and upgrading. We explored what the 12:12 Portal means in our blog here. Now we're going to take a look at how you can work with the energies on that day, if you choose.

Before we get into it, a quick summary of what the 12:12 portal energies mean: it is an opportunity for huge transformation. It is your chance to get clear on what it is you want to set in motion for 2026, and identify your goals and aspirations. Then, plan achievable steps to bring those goals to reality during the year.

How can I work with the 12:12 Portal?

If you choose to work with the energies on the 12:12 portal, I advise you always do what you are drawn to, as this will have the best outcome for you. Everyone is here for their own individual experiences and journey, so tailoring to yourself and following your own guidance will have the best results.

But if you are new to this, or are looking for some guidance on where to begin, here is what I'll be doing on the 12:12 portal.

Step 1- Identify:

Firstly, identify what is no longer serving you. This can be anything that doesn't align with your current self, or the version of you that you want to become. It can be limiting beliefs, reactions, situations, experiences, behaviours, coping mechanisms, anything at all.

You can write these things down, or hold them in your mind. If you choose to write them down, then I generally come from a perspective of forgiveness when doing so, for example, 'I forgive myself for not taking care of my body and eating healthily', or 'I forgive myself for being quick to react in anger and not taking time to control my words'.

It is important to consider that these do not have to be huge aspects; they can be little things you have been holding on to. But anything that is holding space in your mind and energy that you no longer want to hold on to, it is time to release. You also don't need a long list, any amount is right for you.

If you are struggling to identify anything, try meditation. It can be guided or unguided, but this can help clear your mind and identify aspects you might not have considered, or bring up things you thought you had released previously.

Step 2- Release:

The next step, when you have identified what it is you want to release, is to release it / them. For this, we are often taught it needs to be a long, emotional experience. No pain, no gain right?

No. And that might be a limiting belief you could release. It can be a quick experience. To release these aspects, we first need to have the intention to release them. Then you also need to believe you are releasing them, and let it go. (Easier said than done, but be patient and practice.)

If you have written them down, as I said write them from a place of forgiveness. If you are speaking them out loud, you want to do the same. This is because forgiveness is one of the most powerful ways to release.

You're not forgiving a person, or condoning what has happened to you, or what you have done. But instead, you are making a conscious choice to do something better with your energy, for your highest good.

This portal day, the sun is in the sign of Sagittarius, a fire sign. So I like to incorporate fire energies in, meaning I will take my list and go outside to connect to the earth. I will read the list out loud three times, taking my time to feel any emotions that arise, and then, after the third time, I safely burn the list. Once it has finished burning, I return the ashes to the earth.

An alternative option if you can't burn the list, or if you have done it in your mind, is to incorporate fire energies with the use of burning sage/ Palo Santo/ or incense. You can use this to imagine those aspects releasing as the smoke drifts away.

Step 3- Set Intentions:

The next step is to fill that energetic space you have created with something brighter and lighter. You can do this by setting your intentions and filling them with gratitude. Again, I like to keep it simple.

Make another list, this time you are going to write what you want to manifest, but as though you have already received it, and with gratitude for how it feels to have it. Again, this can be as long or as short as you like.

So, for example, a goal for 2026 may be to be in the best physical shape of your life, so you could word it as 'I am so grateful and proud that I am in the best physical shape of my life, I have never felt stronger.' Or if you want to add more specifics to it, you may word it as 'I am so grateful that in March 2026, I have achieved a personal best for squatting 70kg successfully and with ease.'

Once you have written your list, I normally like to end it by writing thank you, thank you, thank you. You can finish there if you wish. I like to read it outloud three times, and then you can either sleep with it under your pillow, place it in a safe location such as a journal, or you can go a step further and build a crystal grid, or even make a manifestation box. The choice is yours.

Step 4- Action:

Then- the most important part- you can be more present and conscious in your decisions to ensure they align with your intentions, and take steps to achieve them.

This is the part that is often missed out, we're told to set intentions like they will magically manifest. But we have to make conscious choices to achieve them. Intentions are like a promise to yourself, and when you stick to them, transformation happens.

In our example, I talked about being in physical shape. You can write it down, but if you then don't choose to exercise or eat healthier, you won't achieve it. This is where you can set realistic, small targets to work towards achieving your intentions.

In this example, you might do a three-month plan which could look something like this:

January:

Sign up to a gym

Go to the gym twice a week

Drink more water daily

Start tracking my daily steps

February:

Go to the gym 4 times a week

Do a yoga class once a week

Start trying to hit 10,000 steps 3 days a week

March:

Work with a trainer once a week

Continue at the gym 4 times a week

Try to do 10,000 steps every day

Add 10kg to my weight during exercise

Then you have measurable goals that are small enough to be achievable and not overwhelm you, and that, in the end, support you in achieving what you want. Then you can put it into action.

When you make these promises to yourself to do things, it can then make it easier to make decisions as to what to do with your time and energy. Does this help you reach your goals and intentions? If no, seriously consider saying no. If they do, then say yes. Prioritising yourself and caring for yourself is key. As I recently said to one of my customers, being selfish is a form of self-care, and it's ok to put yourself first because you can't help others if you don't help yourself first.

And that is it. This doesn't have to take a huge amount of time during the day, you can be as quick as you need. But the key is to be present. Really check in with yourself, identify what is holding you back. Check in and ask if your intentions truly resonate with your soul and what you want.

Work with the energies of the 12:12 portal, it will support you in identifying and making changes for your highest good. This is how you can leave the denser aspects of yourself behind and start 2026 being a lighter, brighter version of yourself.
